Page 8: My exterior

02/05/2009 When it is bright outside, I will take some pictures of the new tires I got in December. They are General Tire Altimax Arctic tires, size P195 60R15, a good old stock size, so I don't throw off my speedometer by getting something differently sized. Anyway, photos will come soon.

Here's the pictures of the underbody, take a look! Not too bad, eh?

These pictures are taken from underneath the rear of the car, looking toward the front of the car, use the tires as an orientation helper. I clean it out of salt whenever I can (typically once every week or 2, depends on how often it is driven). So for a daily driven car from 1994, rust will not be a problem for this car, as it is taken care of well.

I know there is a small amount of surface rust, but I live in New Hampshire, which has very long and snowy winters, and all the time road crews spread salt all over the roads, so things rust extremely fast. I have seen countless cars where rust has completely ate away at hardware, brackets, and even floorpans in my training years. From left to right, and from top to bottom, row 1, picture 1- behind the rear suspension, row 1 picture 2- the exhaust pipe before it reaches the muffler going over the right side of the rear suspension. Row 2, picture 1- The rear left drum brake backing place is visible here, a common part that I have seen rot out almost completely on some cars, only a small, light layer of surface rust is present. If I had a bead blaster, I could make every rust covered part on this car look like brand new showroom condition, row 2, picture 2- in front of the rear suspension, looking at the fuel tank, the straps only have a small amount of rust on them, probably the most rusty part on this car. Row 3, picture 1- in front of the fuel tank, looking at the exhaust pipe, yeah, there are some soot/carbon deposits on the pipe, but they are almost 4 years old. The exhaust hasn't leaked there, for the most part, since 2005-2006, but I will weld there when I get one, or can use one. Row 3, picture 2- The area in front of the exhaust pipe s-bend, a clean floorpan! Row 4, picture 1- in front of the S-bend, the exhaust resonator still looks great, it's awesome to see the exhaust retained its nice stainless steel appearance, instead of rusting out like some aluminum exhaust systems out there. Yay for stainless steel! Good stuff. I love steel.

Hey guys and girls, here is a few photographs of the car after it has been fixed.Super1994SC's 1994 Saturn SC-Series This one was taken on 11/08/2008, a pretty nice day, Super1994SC's 1994 Saturn SC-Seriesand here is one that was taken on the same day, only on the side view.

10/24/2008- Well, in case anyone was wondering, my Spectra-beam foglamps broke when I went to change a burned out bulb. Yeah, I still have them, but I won't put them on because having a good foglight and having a shattered foglamp next to it would look like crud, and after all of that, nobody offers a normal looking foglamp, that won't look like some stupid ricer. So, I finally, after 3 years, took the data off this site. A picture of them can be found in the 'older news' page.

10/07/2008- I got a set of 1991 Saturn SC alloy wheels that look like they haven't seen any real mileage. They have no curb rash, however they do have some badly scratched up lug covers, which I can get at my local Saturn dealer. These nice looking wheels will have slicks for summer fun/racing, and winter tires for having some fun in the snow. They don't have any tires at this moment, but I already know what kind of tire I am looking for. I am going to get a set of Dunlop Graspics in the stock P195 60R15 size to prevent any speedometer/odometer errors. I am looking forward to getting these really nice looking wheels on the car. No, I don't like 'big crome rims', just nice looking aluminum alloy wheels. Enough talk, let's see what they look like, eh?

Look snappy huh? Look here-- virtually no brake dust at all--Super1994SC's 1994 Saturn SC-Serieswhich makes them almost too good to use as winter tires. Heck, am I nuts? I should use my 1994 teardrop wheels for that, because these wheels are in too nice shape.

Super1994SC's 1994 Saturn SC-Series This is an old 2005 picture of my SC with the black Saturn Emblems. They're really sharp. They really match well with the gold and black exterior.

hey you dont have to be afraid of the dif pin blowing because of slippage in the snow i have owned 2 saturns one 91sl2 with a/t and my current 95sl2 m/t and neither dif pins have blown and both engines and transmisions currently have well over 100k on them and i have put both cars through numerous newengland icy snowy winters and i love how yours is coming out 5stars hope this helps just dont do burn outs since the wheels are slipping and spinning under extreme friction and drag and that is what causes the dif pin to blow, it is too much force for it to handle my plans are to upgrade my dif to a limited slip from quaife differentials.

No i never did burn outs....it was more of just driving like an idiot.....the diff pin has a mind of it own. I have seen grandma-driven saturns with the diff pin out. As for snow im hoping mine last through the winter here. we just got a blizzard last week and the roads have been terrible

yeah it was like a gun shot went off under me......then a lot of metal hitting the ground, and after all that a lot of cussing. do not do burn outs at all in your car!
