Let's see... it's been a few months since I last updated the page on my continuing build up so here it goes.
First off, after rebuilding that old Carter carb, the throttle response and mileage still sucked pretty bad. It was time for an upgrade! I did a little research on the Motorcraft 2100 that was used in some of the ol AMC V-8's and Fords and came to the conclusion that it would work perfect!
Ain't she a beaut?
Ol' Blue has never run better! Perfect idle; steady, quick acceleration; and, to top it off, NO COMPUTER CRAP!
My second, and most recent, mod was the installation of a GM HEI distributor to replace the old motorcraft unit and control module. After picking up a junker from an abandoned 82 pickup, I cleaned it up, installed a new cap, rotor and coil and made the swap. Without the MSD hooked up yet, the idle and cruise feel about the same but man-o-man is the acceleration kicked up!
That's all I've got for now, but my next project (already got the parts) is to replace all the old break lines and cylinders with braided stainless steel!
Now for the good pics! With 4 inches of leaf spring lift, I had no idea Ol' Blue could still flex like this!!
Unfortunetly, it wasn't quite enough to get me off this teeter totter. Now I've got my eyes on those Tere-flex shackles...
