This is my 1980 Ford Fairmont Futura Sport Coupe. I bought it a couple of years ago from the mad scientist mechanic who lives next door. He started the project off with a SN-95 front suspension and brake swap, a Continental disc-brake rear-end swap, and full mustang dash and instrumentation conversion. When I bought it, it was still powered by the original 2.3L 2bbl four cylinder backed by a 4 speed manual transmission. After being out-run by a short-bus, I decided to swap in a new drivetrain. With the help of Dave, the mad scientist mechanic, the car was fitted with a 306ci V8 with a trans-go kitted C4. We opted to swap the Continental rear-end for a 3.55 Turbocoupe rear-end fitted with 10" Aerostar drums. The car currently sports a set of 2003 Mach 1 Rally 500s, with Goodyear 245/45/ZR17 tires up front, and a healthy set of 275/40/ZR17 in the back.
