CES 2006
January 5-9, 2006
Las Vegas
Home Audio
This was the Wireworld display, nice cables at reasonable price for performance
Snell Acoustics makes great sounding products, only static displays at CES (like Dynaudio, Krell, JM Lab)

This was a VERY interesting technical introduction, think of a stereo without RCA's this Marantz concept sent the audio signal through the power line from component to component
Klipsch was displaying a lot of their new theater line but what caught my eye and ear was the OLD school horn loaded products STILL on the market
The Jungson goon had monstrous speakers that sounded very coherent and fairly precise
Here is a technical tour-de-force the Day Sequerra CD player playing an FM signal to the HD FM tuner. Very cool
OK! here is the MFSL room with 1/2 speed masters on sonic display. The sound was awesome and the equipment needs to be remembered for its low cost and high performance Valve Audio pre and power amp, AVID turntable MFSL speakers. We listened to Shawn Britton the Mastering Engineer tell us about the MFSL Blood Sweat and Tears album we listened to.
Not everything was milk and honey... the SoundLab/ Parasound room sounded well... like a huge speaker with no HF sparkle
This was a special moment I met Mr. Kirksaeter of Kirsaeter Speaker Systems. He was putting together audiophile systems when most of us were still in diapers
Manley had a LOUD demonstration using the Manley line of electronics and the Coincident speaker. As usual the Manley room is a lot of fun and I picked up a 'Tubes Rule' sticker. The guys in the Threshold room actually got upset with me for wearing it... no sense of humor in Colorado.
NOW for a Best of Show Award!
KIMBER KABLE's room had (surprise) Kimber Kable!
Their system had the most accurate 3D presentation I have ever heard, they used a multiple channel system to get there too.
Here is the man Ray Kimber standing tall over his best in show system consisting of: Genex Audio GX9000, EMM Labs DAC8, EMM Labs Switchman, Pass Labs X350.5, Lipinski Sound L-707 monitors, Lipinski Sub and Sub-amp, and a bunch of Kimber Kables connecting it all together!
