1990 Ford Taurus SHO
3.0 liter 225+ Hp 30 mpg at 80 mph
234,000 miles (>375,000 km) and still running strong! (This engine has never been rebuilt)
K&N air filter (stock intake is tough to beat in this car, basically a cold air kit)
Custom Y-pipe and Stainless Exhaust for a little more HP
KYB shocks and struts (the KYB shocks are not a good match with the Eibach or the stock springs)
Eibach Springs
Sub-frame connector welded in, highly recommended for 89- 95 SHO's
My SHO is currently a SQ competition car (MECA SQL Modified)I have competed in several organizations, I like MECA.
The SHO is a life support system for my two favorite vices; SQ audio competition and driving fast.
I enjoy enthusiast driving, the car is now 15 years old and has close to 1/4 million miles and runs like a top. To put the SHO in historical perspective, it is probably responsible for the hot sedan market in the US right now. In 1990 a typical US made sedan had ~125 Hp, almost all had less than 150 Hp, these were the days of the Plymouth Acclaim and the Chevy Celebrity. The SHO with 220 Hp was the first domestic everyone felt could stand up to BMW.
typical view of my car, get used to it
The SHO when originally released was about as fast as the Corvette and the Mustang GT. Of course this could not last for long... it is unacceptable for a 4-door to dust or almost dust the American sports cars. This encouraged Chevy (playing catch up) to come out with the Impala SS, which was faster 0-60 mph but was less of a drivers car than the SHO was
A nice view of the V6 24 valve engine showing a really sweet intake manifold, see my Stinger battery in the oak battery box! You can see the 0 gauge stereo power wire

Now there are import sedans with 10 and 12 cylinders, a new GTO, the covette is faster, the Mustang is faster, Dodge reintroduced the Charger and Magnum (the HEMI is back), and there is ANOTHER Impala SS coming! If you like the hot sedan market, like I do, thank the SHO. Lots of guys ignore the SHO and that is their mistake it is still pretty darn quick just no longer one of the very quickest
