PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS!
In the summer of '04 I beefed the car up a little bit with my installation of an AEM Short Ram Intake System that I picked up from Go Miata! This gives the car a deep, aggressive growl under high-revs. I took this pic. after I washed the engine bay using the Simple Green technique. I was surprised how easy and efficient it was to clean the engine this way, and it left my car with a minty scent for about a week. More information on washing your engine bay can be found by performing a search at www.miata.net.
Now this was money well spent! Shortly after hooking up the AEM Intake, I decided to go with a Racing Beat Dual Exhaust from Moss Motors. Originally, I purchased the Borla Dual Exhaust, but the piece that Moss sent didn't fit the flange circumference of my Miata (my car is an automatic). Can you imagine my frustration? At any rate, Moss made things right by upgrading me to this model, and I'm very happy with it. Throttle Response is improved and the car is quicker, even under low-revs.
Here's another shot of the exhaust. Trust me--when reving up the motor--the thing sounds MEAN!
This is something new: a Track Dog Header Heatshield that I purchased from Moss Motors in June '05. Although my header is stock, this heatshield cools things down a little bit. Besides, it looks really good!
The car is now LOWERED! TEIN BASIC Coilover Kit installed. The ride heights are now 12.5" front; 13" rear. Spring rates are 396 lbs/inch front and 336 lbs/inch rear. This is up from the stock spring settings of 164 lbs/inch front and 97 lbs/inch rear. The car now corners brillantly!
Here's the Cobalt Shock Tower Brace from Moss Motors.
