The K-car gets a new transmission!
The new transmission is an A568 5spd manual. This particular model came from a 1990 VNT car. It is one of the best models offered from Chrysler for the 2.2L Turbo engine. It was also used on 224hp Turbo III cars (with a slightly larger input shaft).
The tranmission was given a fresh rebuild by Cliff Ramsdell; turbo Dodge transmissions are his specialty. I had heard great things about the quality of his rebuilds, and so far I have not been disappointed!
New clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and bobble strut. Clutch is a custom from FWD Performance. The flywheel is the Fidanza lightweight aluminum unit. Bobble strut is from Johnny Spiva at Poly Bushings.com
The car is finally undergoing its new transmission swap. The process has been slow because it has taken a while to gather all the parts. Along with the parts shown above, I am also using an A568/A523 shifter with Fidanza short shifter, coupled with 1st generation neon shifter cables. I also needed bucket style seats to replace the bench seat so I could mount the shifter, so I picked up a set of used SRT-4 Viper style seats.
