Marlin Crawler Round-Up #4 Rubicon Springs 2005
What a trip! I had to work friday, but got off early 10:30 am, then drove to Fresno to Marlin's shop to meet up with his son Mike. I arrived at 2pm and waited. In the mean time Marlin's rig wasn't ready for the run, so I offered my assistance, since him and his crew were a bit on the tired side from the long hours getting this event ready. We finished his rig around 10pm and didn't leave the shop til 11pm. Went back to his house to clean up. Mike and I finally hit the road around 12:30am, Marlin decided to sleep in and drive up in the morning.
We made it to the trail head on the Loon side of the Rubicon trail around 4:30am
We were suppose to meet up with a group that was camping near Little Sluice, but decided to push on to Rubicon Springs.

Mike flexing
Mike with a flat tire about 200yds from the bridge crossing, this was the second time a tire de-beaded, the first happened near the start of the run.
We finally arrived at the Springs around 10:45am, I tried to take a nap but to no avail. Here's a shot of a few having fun ramping each other......
After we were treated to a great Tri-tip dinner, I finally went to bed around 9pm......I was up for a total of 40 hours! The next morning we headed out towards Lake Tahoe.
Stopped at Observation Point for a view shot
A bit of rush hour traffic on the way out
On the highway

The only trail carnage I sustained was a minor dent in the right rear bumper. should only take me a hour to fix, but it did it's job and prevent any further damage to the rest of the rig. It happened in the dark comming off a ledge a bit too fast. Unfortunately I didn't get many shot on this run, mostly due to the fact we were supposed to drive back out the way we came in, that's when I was gonna take more photo's. Oh well, there's always next year.....
