Bodywork was done at a friend's bodyshop for almost a month. A total of 17 bodykit pieces needed to be fitted. The hardest part was the fitment of the fender flares. Custom work and lots of fender cutting was done!!!! All four of the fenders were cut almost as high as the top edge of the fender creating widebody fenders. This also enabled for the fitment of larger rims and tires than can normally be fitted on the 190e.
Car was painted Midnight Blue Dupont paint with ice pearl mixed in the clearcoat, then girlfriend less than a week later fucked with my car and it was back in the bodyshop to repair front windshield and rear passenger side flare. Then it was painted reddish/purple/pink, but not enough catalyst was added to the paint so it never really hardened; resulting in a shitty paintjob. I ended up primering the entire car and also fixing cracked fiberglass areas on the bodykit. It was definately a learning experience and I will say; I never took any autobody shop classes at all. I learnt it all through trial and error!
Was it worth all the effort?
Definately cause if in the future I ever got into an accident for example, I could atleast fix all the bodywork up till applying paint. Now the car really needed to be painted the proper way. So, the entire car had to be sanded along with the use of aircraft stripper. The red paint needed to be stripped off entirely. It was an extremely tedious and labor-intensive process, but it was done! I wish I had done a better, more consistent job of sanding it though cause I do have quite a few imperfections. When sanding job was done, car was taken to get primered.
I wetsanded after that and got ready for the paint booth day.
I chose to paint the car, color code 199; factory Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 charcoal blue/black pearl. It turned out fabulous and the color was sooo sick!!!
Entire front end has been upgraded from the boring stock looks to include Euro headlights with PIAA blue xenon H4 bulbs, smoked corner lenses, S600 Avantegarde grille with carbon strips, color matched grille frame, carbon fiber eyebrows, 190E mirrors including the passenger side Euro mirror both done in carbon fiber. A C-Classe hood conversion or a carbon hood would be nice.
