This is my 1984 Mercury Capri, former 3.8 V6 carbed car. This car is my pride and joy. I haven't updated this page in forever til now. I got this car as a rolling chassis in august 02 and put a mildly built .020" 302 in it (305).

I just had the car dyno'd at a local place called WP Racing and it put down 242.3 hp at the wheels and 293.9 ft/lbs on 87 octane with 35% humidity. the average power was at 166.3 hp, and average torque was 233.3 ft/lbs. The car is a lot more powerful than this however, as my distributor hold down i later found was stripped out and base was back at 8 degrees. That backed my total timing to 28 degrees. I wish I knew that was messed up before the dyno day. oh well.

Messed around with the secondaries because the car was dipping way rich on acceleration on the a/f dyno run sheets. The secondaries were kicking in too slow, so now those are set up and I want to get it back to the dyno when the body and paint are complete.

My best 1/4 mile track time to date is 14.5 at 97. Couldn't get the 60ft below 2.2 due to a broken motor mount. This car should run high to mid 13's in current form so I can't wait to see what goes down this year, since it has since got new rubber out back, new poly motor mounts, timing bumped where it should be and the secondaries dialed in.

Right now the car looks like an innocent little 4 banger. It surprises everyone on start up :)

Watch out for more pictures coming soon of the car when i first got it back in 2002. Just need time to figure out this frickon scanner.

I am glad to see A Capri RS. I believe I read that you took a 3.8 and made it into an RS. I have not checked but believe very Few actual RS still exist. I do have a 1984 RS in my garage. It is original and has not been touched since 1995. I hope I can get it restored but its close relationship to the Mustang should help that. Your blue car is quite correct for an RS, I am not sure about the paint, a few thing I believe are incorrect and that is your wheels are wrong at least for a 1984 as a nice aluminum 3 spoke that used 390 mm tires are actually correct. Tires are Michelin TRX tires. Better than a lot of others I see you have the correct dash inserts. A Capri RS did not use a woodgrain dash as some are showing on their cars. Dashlighting to the dash is red on the Capri RS. The rear dual exhaust was also a double chrome exhaust pipe I believe both comking out of one muffler.
