This was my '97 F-150. We put a lot of time into this truck and it was always a blast to work on and play in. It had the 4.6L V8, and with it only being a standard cab with the flareside bed, she really got up and ran...
Soon after getting the truck, I ordered DJM's 4/6 Slam kit for the truck and we chopped and dropped the hell out of it. The kit consisted of upper and lower A-arms, springs, a rear flip kit, and a C-notch. We backed her up into my buddy's garage and had at it. As you can see the kit really put her on the ground. In the end the front went down over 5 INCHES, and the rear went down 7. It was so low, in fact, that while driving home from getting an alignment, the front end bottomed out and ripped out the front plastic inner fender wells.
Next we replaced the factory Ford rear bumper with a Lund fiberglass rear roll pan to smooth out the tail end of the truck, and smooth bed step caps and a smooth wiper cowl were also ordered. Altezza tails were installed and a Ford Lightning 3rd brake light was installed in factory location at the rear of the cab.
On the front end, a Trenz billet grill insert replaced the factory piece, and the grill frame was painted to match the color of the truck and Super White bulbs were installed to give it a little flare going down the road at night. I'm not a huge fan of neon, but a few tubes were added behind the grill to give it a nice accent glow also.
The factory gauges were replaced with Nu Image Silver faced gauges and so were the A/C controls. The panels surrounding the gauges were removed, painted gloss black and re-installed to give the truck a custom feel. The radio bezel was also painted black to pull the look throughout the truck. Blue strobe lights were installed in the A/C vents and small neons were installed in other areas as well to show off the truck's interior.
