Here is my 1964 Chevy C-10 which my father bought on 10/31/98 in Anchorage, Alaska for $500 and has been completely restored to what you see here. At first glance I thought my father was playing a sick and twisted joke on me, but he knew what we could make of the rusty pile of shit. The cab had fallen victim of a tree, literally. The bed only had a hint of fenders lightly hung on a sliver of bedside due to the most rust i have ever seen on any sort of vehicle. No motor or trans, about the only thing still left of that first truck is the frame. We bought two other trucks for parts, and a van for the motor. 5 years later, alot of busted knuckles, stacks of money, and many an emptyed beer can, my father and i have constructed this truck.
The motor was orinally a very mild rebuilt street 350 with stock heads, short cam, edelbrock manifold and hooker headers. But as the truck was finished during my senoir year of high school (we moved to Parker Colorado, eastern slope, attended Ponderosa HS, 04' 5A football State CHAMPS!!) and I had a good after school job, the performance parts flew into engine bay as fast as fuel down the carb.
Since there was an unacceptable amount of RicerBoys revving their 4-bangers in the school parking lot, i felt obligated to "lay down the law". I bought a new 222/234 cam, Dart Iron eagle heads, Holley Street Avenger 670, Hi-Po MSD ingnition, flowmaster exhaust, ratchet shifter for the Th-350, and 4.56 gears. On the "desktop dyno" its putting down 399hp/398ft-lbs. On the "butt dyno" i believe there is about 300/300 getting to the wheels. I took it to the Bandimere High School drags last year (not in high school anymore, im 19 right now), ran a best of 14.73 @ 92 mph while running that Mustang, I out-ran him by 2 tenths.
Right now its just my daily driver for college, not planning anything more for it other than a few sets of tires (it does WICKED burnouts, Ill have to get a pic). Ive moved on to my 57 Bel-Air post and 71 Datsun 240Z. The Z is going to get a SBC puttin down ALOT more hp than it should, 450hp sounds good. The V8 swap in those cars is quite common and im hoping for low 12's when im done. Here are pics of my 57 and 71.
I hope ya like my Chevy, if you are in the western colorado area, you just might see it flying by you. ;)
Any questions bout' it, just AOL-IM me at " BigTbody350 "
Peace,
Big T
