UPDATE: 5/29/2006: ECM and wiring!

Sorry for the long wait for an update... I now have an update on the northstar fiero. It now successfully runs on a GM computer! I spent the past few months getting everything perfect, and tuning the heck out of it. I burned probably close to 1000 chips. But now it's just about perfect.

Cadillac is very secretive about their computers and code, and as such, I highly doubt the cadillac computer will ever be "hacked" successfully enough to support any "cool modifications".

However, as I just mentioned, I got a regular $50 junkyard ECM to work with the Northstar. I'm not going to sell the chip to get it running (and several months of my time) for cheap, but it will allow you to run cams, boost, whatever your heart desires! Current estimated price is $500 for the computer, chip, and wiring harness.

Check out my dyno run, which shows me running a stock 300hp northstar with my computer, and another run that day (there were 6 or so runs total) with an 80mm throttle body. As a side note, I'm selling these bored 80mm throttle bodies for $200 - 6hp, 10-15ft-lb gain as shown on the dyno. ryan.h (at) excite.com for more info.

note: umm.. that doesn't show up so well...
Before peak hp: 250.2
Before peak torque: 247.6
After peak hp: 256.2
After peak torque: 257.7

Peak gain is actually pretty significant around 3500 rpm, about 15ft-lbs.

Nice. I blew my first Northstar and wanted to rebuild it and do something like this. Didn't have to time nor the money. Looks like a fun little car. Good work :)
