Car Stereo Upgrades:

For the longest time, I never thought I would upgrade the car stereo. I was much more interested in making the car faster and lighter, and not adding the extra weight of a nice sound system.

It must have been the idea of satellite radio that made me change my mind. After putting an Alpine CDA-9847 and Sirius satellite radio into my 93 Maxima, I had the itch to do the same thing to the M3, only better.

While I like to tinker with a lot of my car's upgrades, I decided to take this to the pro's at Traffic Jams in Buford, GA. These guys did a great job, highly recommended!

They set me up with the following:

Alpine CDA-9835 headunit
Diamond M6 5.25" component speakers
Diamond D5 300.4 amp
Diamond D3 400.2 amp
Two Diamond M3 10" sub's CM310D2
Bavarian Soundwerks dual 10" subwoofer enclosure

I chose this sub enclosure because it was removable, which is perfect for track days and serious joy rides. With the subs removable, the only real weight added would be the amps. A trade-off I was finally willing to make.

Impressions? Sounds awesome! Great system and I REALLY enjoy having Sirius satellite radio! I'll never go back to FM!

Hi Collin. Nice ride. Funny how going ove things, we've ended up with several similar mods, some identical, RGR's, Koesi's, etc. Even started off with XR4Ti's, I had over 5 of them!!!

Anyway, like what you've done. See you on the forums.

Regards, Alan Coles

Hey collin. I just saw this link in your sig at Bf.c and thought I'd take a look. I'm trying to go down the same path you are so your page gives me some ideas. Let us know when you're in the area. I'd love to drive yours with the LTW flywheel - it's my next mod.
