The first mod I ever did was the sounds. It started with my old system I had installed in my Peugeot 106.
My kit consisted of:
Kenwood KVT 1000 touch screen monitor
2x JL Audio 10” subwoofers
Alpine MRVF353 5 channel amplifier
Sony PS2
The most difficult thing about having the head unit fitted was that there was no aftermarket facia plate for the head unit. I phoned around looking all over the world and could not find one. So in the end decided to make one out of mdf and vinyl.
I then decided to remake this facia plate out of acrylic which looked a lot nicer and had a closer finish to the black plastic of the rest of the dash.
A few months later I was able to source a double din facia plate from a website called Autotoys.com based in USA. That was fitted along with a din sized DVD player.
I ran a 4 gauge power cable through the car and used the amp to power the two subs and the rest of the OEM speakers in the car. I found that the bass was not sufficient in the car being a saloon so I decided to start stripping out the ski hatch. The bass had improved but only slightly. I decided in the end that I will have to live with this for a while because I wanted to concentrate on other mods.
Next mod was the alloy wheels, I had looked into the forums and found that most people were going for 18” rims and very few had decided to go for 19’s. I decided to go with the latter. So, off to decide the rims.
I’ve always wanted chromes but was not expecting a heavy price tag to come with them. I was going to go for the 19” Team Dynamics Chrome Diablo’s because they were reasonably priced and I like the look of the wheels. Unfortunately, rimstock had stopped making the 19” Diablo’s in a chrome finish. In the end, I decided to go for 19” OZ Antares. So I ordered the wheels and a week later they were delivered and fitted.
