Old Hondas are relatively rare these days. They were small economical cars and not exactly the most desirable or sought after. Rust was also a major issue for the early models. I assume most have been junked and recycled. However, I am quite fond of these early generation Hondas. They were quite a milestone for their class and are a rather interesting part of automotive history that has often been overlooked. Nevertheless, my 24 year old Civic still turns heads out on the road.
Here is the 1981 Honda Civic Wagon. The car has only 62,xxx miles and is mostly all original. Everything is in excellent working condition, including the air conditioner and the original AM/FM radio w/ cassette player.
I have not added any aftermarket accesories to the vehicle whatsoever. The car was equipped with a 3-speed automatic, which replaced the 2-speed 'Hondamatic' from previous generations. The only factory/dealer options installed in the vehicle were limited to a rear window defroster, air conditioning, cassette player, dealer installed side trim and mud flaps. Manual windows/door locks, an AM/FM radio and two in-dash speakers complete the interior features. I have left everything stock. I have the owner's manual, service manual, shop manual and original sales documents.
Here is the infamous Honda 1.5 liter CVCC 4-cylinder engine.
All major components (alternator, AC compressor, etc.) are factory originals. This engine performs beautifully (although not very powerful with only 67 horsepower) and I trust it to go just about anywhere. The phots below show the original factory spec. sheets on the underside of the hood.
As seen here in some of the photos, the two front seats need to be refurbished.
If anyone has some suggestions, please contact me. The previous owner had them covered with seat covers that I later removed. The rest of the interior is flawless.
