Matt's Chevy Stepside

January 30, 2007 - Totalled!

Driving home from school, then another driver pulled out in front of me. I tried avoiding him, but to no avail. Thankfully, both of us walked away with minimal injuries. I begged the insurance company and repair shop to see what they can do for the sake of sentimental value. The cost was too high, and it was totalled out. It ended up pushing up the frame rail, the doghouse was done, and pushed the block / transmission / transfer case back. You can guess all the other stuff that went with it.
On the other hand, if you found it or got the engine out of it or something, let me know, because I can tell you all about it. This page will remain on here as a tribute.
June 6, 2006 - Hey guys! I broke the clutch about a month ago and I had to remove the engine to replace it.
I figured while the engine was out, I'd clean it up and fix it up. I just finished installing a Cloyes True Double-Roller timing set, complete Fel-Pro Gasket Kit, and Comp Cams 252XFI cam and lifters...Of course can't forget the new AP clutch.

The block, pretty much bare except for a select few things like pistons, connecting rods, crank, oil pump, and a few minor other things.
The new Cloyes timing set...Strapped to the new cam.

The learning process...I've never changed a cam before. (Thank goodness for repair manuals.)

My custom self-made exhaust system, because I'm cheap like that ;). I get better torque response with it being a shorter system, as well as less backpressure. I'm thinking about redoing the tail right here, maybe for a 90 degree ended with a dual turn-up tip instead of the 45.
