Engine

Engine:
3.0 Liter V6 DOHC Twin Turbocharged and Intercooled.
Mitsubishi Variable Induction System (MVIC):
To maximize and broaden engine power, torque, throttle response and fuel economy throughout the rpm range, MVIC electronically adjusts port length to suit different engine speeds: long, narrow runners for low speeds and short, wide runners for high speeds. Offered only on SL and VR-4 trims
Suspension:
All trims feature front MacPherson struts mounted to a separate subframe to increase stability. This works during braking, even if the driver gets one side of the car off the pavement, or begins sliding on dirt or ice. The GT/SL models have a multi-link suspension consisting of one upper and two lower lateral links, a trailing arm and a gas-filled shock absorber/concentric coil spring unit. The VR-4 features a double wishbone design. All trims are equipped with a front stabilizer (anti-roll) bar, and rear ones are fitted in the SL and VR-4. Each of these are designed to each specific model to maximize ride comfort, cornering stability and steering response.
Steering/Four-Wheel Steering:
Power assisted rack and pinion steering is standard on all GTO models. The VR-4 features a four wheel steering system, which at speeds above 31 mph, the rear cylinder receives a varying degrees of pressure based upon how quickly and how far the steering wheel has been turned. Rear toe angle is changed accordingly

Transmission:
The GT and SL offer a 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto. The auto features a dual-program shifter optimized for either "power" or "economy" modes. It also talks to the engine via an electronic control engine management computer, mapping shift points and engine power to best suit the power or economy driving. The VR-4 is only available with a German designed Getrag 6 speed manual gearbox.
All Wheel Drive (AWD):
Only the VR-4 is equipped with a full time all wheel drive system. It directs power to a center differential that incorporates a limited-slip viscous coupling. In normal driving conditions when the front and rear tires are getting equal traction, the torque split is 45 percent front and 55 percent rear. As a result, the VR-4 maintains a rear-drive handling bias under normal conditions. When there is a difference in the rotational speed of the front and rear wheels, addition torque is sent to the axle with great raction, which, in this case, would be the wheels that are turning more slowly. The rear limited slip differential works in the same way, as it shifts power left to right according to the traction of each rear wheel. Regardless of the traction conditions, the AWD system shifts torque so quickly and smoothly that the driver senses no unusual power transfer.

Brakes:
All trims are equipped with large front and rear disc brakes. The VR-4 features fully vented front and rear rotors, which are 12.2 and 11.6 inches in diameter. It also has four-piston front aluminum calipers and two-piston rear aluminum calipers. Anti-lock brakes are standard on the SL and VR-4.
DOHC Turbo:
Only the VR-4 is equipped with this mind blasting configuration - a DOHC twin turbocharged and twin intercooled engine, generating a scorching 320 HP at 6,000 RPM, and 315 lbs-ft of torque at 2,500 RPM.
Wheels:
18" Chrome Rims, Z-Rated Tires
