Due to a on-going transmission shifting issue, in May 2007 and with 114,000 (not correct mileage) miles on the clock I decided to change the clutch assembly. Straight forward affair and standard pics, nothing special
This is probably another reason why the Chevy 60* deg motors are known for leaking oil. The camshaft retaining plate gasket was leaking. This might show oil leakage coming from the bell housing in which you would naturally think it's a rear main seal
The rear main seal didn't show signs of leakage, but along with the camshaft retaining plate gasket I also changed the rear main seal.

The flywheel wasn't in bad shape so I took my disc sander to it

The old and new clutch assembly. I was surprise to see the old clutch wasn't completely worn. The clutch disc had a fair amount of material left and the fingers on the plate wasn't worn either.

Flywheel, bell housing, throw-out bearing and shift fork re-installed.

I honestly think this was the main cause of my problem. Everything was done correctly when the replacement clutch was installed prior. I could tell the flywheel was turned because the dowel pins were removed and not re-install, and the rear main seal was also changed back then. Everything was done correctly except for the pilot bushing. The old bushing was so worn I just used a screwdriver and broke it into pieces for easy removal. A comparison between the old and new bushing
