Hey, Im Lance and im 16 years old. This page is about the 78 skybird my dad and me are redoing. The car was bought brand new in 1977 by my mom and we she has had it ever since. The car pretty much sat in the garage for 11 years and a couple years ago my dad and I pulled the cover off one winter and decided to do some work on the car. The car had a soft cam in it (it happend alot in the 305s in that era.) so we origionaly we pulling the engine out to clean it up and put a new stock cam in it. That plan didnt last long. After the engine was out the whole engine compartment got cleaned up, primered and painted gloss black. The a/c unit and heater unit were removed. The motor was torn down to the rotating assembly and cleaned up. The heads were taken apart, cleanned up and had some work done to them. The top of the engine got a Edebrock Performer RPM intake with a Edelbrock 600cfm carb. The cam put in was a COMP292 with 292 duration and .501" lift. We also put on a set of Dynomax ceramic headers with dynomax 2.5" mufflers. Tje trans is a Turbo350 that was completly rebuilt and redone. We also put a set of Cragar SS Rims with 225 BFG radial t/a tires in the front and 275 BFG tires in the back. The car has 60,000 origonal miles and the body is pretty much excellent. There is a small rust hole forming on the bottom of the car but nothing noticeable. We have every origonal part for this car including all engine, drivetrain, and exhaust parts, and the snowflake wheels. I have alot of pictures of the car and will put them up here as soon as i get our scanner back on this computer.
