2005 Lotus Elise Electrical System Upgrades
Of course, who leaves their stereo completely stock these days? Well, the Blaupunkt unit in mine is pretty good, but even though it will play mp3-cdroms, I dont have a glovebox in this car, or sunvisors to attach a cd-rom holder to, so figure that my iPod mini will have to serve as the jukebox until my Sirius Satellite tuner is installed (keep reading)!

Check out engadget for info on hacking the iPod to change fonts and icons. This is especially cool if you have an iPod photo, with full color screen. Alas, I spent all my money on the Elise and must make due with my iPod mini! ;)
ACK! Speaking of money, I just sunk a little more into Liz already - one needs to buy protection, you understand - be it from the COM or the government!
So, first up on the upgrade list is a Beltronics RX75 Pro component radar/laser detector. This little baby should be discreet and reliable. Not that I ever speed on public roadways, mind you! This upgrade has been purchased and should arrive UPS today!
Might as well give a little plug to an excellent EBAY seller of car electronics, where I got this item for a
F R A C T I O N of its retail price... They are honest, and ship quickly. I highly recomend them. Check out
i-Net Distributor's EBAY Store for great deals on car electronics and no bu11sh1t! (I am not affiliated in any way with inet distributors!)

This is halfway through the installation of the radar detectors. I'll never drive without radar detectors again!
Now, of course, what's radar detection without some serious Electronic Counter Measures?! This unit from Beltronics comes with laser detectors, but not jammers... they can be bought as an upgrade but they are not the "top-of-the-line" and so I decided to go with the M20 X-treme Laser Blinders, which have been rated #1 in laser jamming in numerous tests.

And, the last Electronics System upgrade that is arriving UPS as soon as Sirius Direct can ship it out: an XACT Satellite car tuner from Sirius. Please note, also, the ORANGE colored display on this unit! The sat receiver can be seen in this next picture mounted to the passenger-side dash panel. Watch your feet getting into my car!
