FORD 460 V-8 SOLD!  Going into a 1969 Mach I drag racer!

This is my D1VE 460 with D0VE C heads. I guess this makes this an early '71 Lincoln motor. I plan on big horse power around 550-650hp. I know it is easy to do, but I am not mechanic so I turn to the pros on forums like FordMuscle.com The guys there really helped me out in making sure I had found a descent block I could build up and can help with what I should do.

Now about 1 week after getting the motor, I did a whole lot of research and found someone who builds performance parts for my MEL 462! I want to keep it in the car now, so this thing if for sale unless something is wrong with my 462 that I dont know about! Asking $650 located in East Pittsburgh, PA 15239. Email me if you want it and I can get any parts for it you need to complete the motor like pulleys, flywheel, trans, all brackets, motor mounts, etc. Thanks

The Co-Pilot and girlfriend..she is trying to tolerate old cars, but it never quite works. She cannot read google directions either! Glad I memorized the important parts of we would have been lost for a while! Head on shot of the motor in the bed of my GMC.

Some identification...so far so good. Need to look in the lifter valley for some real dates and codes.

Didn't even need a tire to keep it from moving around. Well, it did once...it slide a little to the passenger's side around a tollbooth entrance, but I just need to adjust it again and put some wood on either side so it wouldn't slide and perfectly still all the way home 6 and a half hours! 3 ratchet straps and some wood.

I have a nice place near home that I can take the engine to once I am ready for the build called Valley Auto in Wilmerding, PA (Pittsburgh). I had some work done to the heads for my small block 400 there. They suggested reaming the guides out to 30 over and use oversized valves...and it worked great! Even had a cracked head in the spark plug valley and a worker there had the exact head at home and sold it to me for $50! Just honest guys, so I know I will get the work done there.

Let me know what you think about the swap. I know I need some parts like a front end drive assembly since the power steering is different from a 462 and 460. I learned that from the experts at FordMuscle.com forums. Hope it all works out!

Future plans for the Lincoln 462 are to put it into a rat rod. A Ford or Merc of some kind from the 30's.

Hey dude - got your message over a year later after you posted it! My car has been in the shop since September 2006, so its almost been forgotten in the forefront of my mind. However, now it is out at the end of this month so I updated everything. Nice Lincoln! I love the old Continentals, and among Fords this vintage is right up there with the '55 Thunderbird for design. Parts are hard to come by, but a lot of outfits in the midwest work on stuff. I'm sure you have looked at Hemmings, but also check some of the platform mates of the Continental and other cars you are restoring for parts. For example, the floorpan and rug of my '56 Pontiac was shared with the '56 Chevy.
