1958 MERCURY SUPER MARAUDER 3x2 INTAKE

This is a very rare and hard to find (usually) factory intake.  Word has it only around 800 were produced for 1 month in 1958 for the Mercury Super Marauder option which was America's first 400 advertised hp car.  The tri power set up hosted vacuum secondary Holly 2300 carbs, aluminum intake, and some nice dress up options like the even more hard to find air cleaner housing, finned aluminum rocker covers, and a sweet looking fuel pump!  The engine was the Lincoln 430 MEL series motor that is the same block as my MEL 462 so this set up will work.  I have a lot of readind and research to do on this set up and it needs the linkages ironed out to be functional.  Can't wait to get it on the engine and see how it runs after its reubuilt and pumping around 440 horses and 526 ft lbs or torque!  Should run the 1/4 mile in a computer estimated 14.7 seconds!  Not too bad for a 5300 lb. hot rod!  These are unique engines and I am proud to own one especially with the trips!  The build may begin winter of 2008 into 2009 so lets hope it goes well and I can afford it.  Enjoy

Hey dude - got your message over a year later after you posted it! My car has been in the shop since September 2006, so its almost been forgotten in the forefront of my mind. However, now it is out at the end of this month so I updated everything. Nice Lincoln! I love the old Continentals, and among Fords this vintage is right up there with the '55 Thunderbird for design. Parts are hard to come by, but a lot of outfits in the midwest work on stuff. I'm sure you have looked at Hemmings, but also check some of the platform mates of the Continental and other cars you are restoring for parts. For example, the floorpan and rug of my '56 Pontiac was shared with the '56 Chevy.
