NIStune
I recently began a project that would allow me to tune via the ECU in conjunction with a laptop computer. The first step in doing this required me to create an interface that the USB consult could speak to my car with.
The company, NIStune, who created the tuning software, provides a USB to 14 pin male adapter. I had to get a 14 pin female port from another Nissan and wire it directly in to my ECU. This also meant tracing the correct functions of the pins from my ECU. It ended up looking something like this:

The above was done to facilitate the use of the NIStune 14 pin to USB cable, which looks like this:
