Thoughts on the new breed of Maxima
I like the Maxima in all it's forms, but it's most recent form (the 6th Generation Maxima), I worry about the direction it is heading in.
If the Maxima continues to borrow lines and curves from the G35, it will only ever pale in comparison, and as such, people will opt to take the 'real deal', not it's similar but less attractive counterpart. It can't compete with a G35 stylistically - nor should it. It needs to stay in it's own ballpark, with it's own distinctive lines.
I happen to believe the Altima 3.5 is more in tune with what the Maxima should have been aiming for.
I think that if the Maxima continues on it's current styling trend -- there's a strong possibility it will die.
The once flagship Maxima must rediscover it's own niche.
