This Car has tons of work done to it now and tons more plans in the future. Practically nothing in the car has been left untouched. The entire Front and rear suspension have been over hauled and the all bushings replaced with polyurethane. The Motor is a fully built 360 thats been bored out to clean it up and then stuffed with 9.5 compression pistons. The heads are X heads from a 340 that were bare when I got them.
This is the 360 my friend and I built, it has 9.5 compression, a pretty mild cam, and original X heads from a 340. Im hoping for 350 HP. The Internals are pretty mild and I retained the stock bottom end. I put in a higer volume oil and water pump. The Bottom end remains stock. The intake is an edelbrock performer dual plane manifold. Headers are hedman block huggers and out back are flowmaster mufflers to tips that dump right before the rear end.
The engine is connected to a TCI streetfighter Tranny. The Car was a Six Cylinder Car before so it was a little bit of a squeeze to get it in.The whole swap was easy after I bought some schumacher engine mounts. It was also easier because I had a beat down V8 parts car to strip what I needed.
This is the car before the transformation with the motor and the interior gutted.
The interior of the car when it was gutted. Originally we were going to use BMW seats but instead we bought some racing buckets off Ebay.We had to fabricate mounts for the buckets from scratch but it came out looking stock. We also installed the B&M star shifter and are working on the dash and gauges. The dash should be interesting because we took a tore up rallye dash from a 340 car and cut into the plastic in order to fit autometer gauges. All this because I dont like the monster tach bolted to the dash. When we are done it should be cool because it will look stock but with a futuristic gauge set up. When we are finished I will put pictures up.
This is the motor and the tranny installed in the car. We had to take the hood off to get it in there. There is also a aluminum four core radiator.
The grille and the bumper are removed. I painted the grill black and bought fiberglass bumpers and brackets from unlimited products. Both those are also being painted black. The body is decent right now but it needs work. This car sat in a garage for 18 years but before then a blind old lady drove it and bumped it into a lot of stuff. So its a little dinged up. Originally I wanted to paint the whole car sublime green but the current metallic forest green is kinda growing on me.
I didnt take many pictures of the front brakes installation but they are wilwood front discs with four piston aluminum calipers and 12" vented rotors. Also you can see the 17" Torq Thrust.
Closeup of the wheels and brakes. The tires are 245 45/ZR17 in the rear and 225 45/ZR17 in the rear. I have plans later on to get wider tires under there but money is tight right now so its fine for now.
The Rear brakes are also wilwood disc brakes with an internal parking brake. They are also 12" rotors. The Brake lines are steel braided lines.
The rear end is and original A-Body 8 3/4. Internally it has an Auburn posi unit, 3.55 richmond gears and Moser axles.
This is the dart after the front end and rear end have been installed and its all set down on the ground. I also installed KYB gas a just shocks. I also forgot to mention the front and rear sway bar from addco, 1 1/8 in the front and 3/4 in the rear. To round out suspension upgrades I also bought som competition engineering subframe connectors so that it will be ultra stiff. When it comes down off a jack the back end doesnt even bounce at all.
Despite several setbacks the dart is finally on the road after almost four years. A notable setback was the rims and tires were stolen off the car while it sat at my friends shop. I found the car on the rotors. They didnt even have the courtesy to sit it on blocks. It worked out though because I got 9.5" rims on the back and fit 275 tires on the rear with minimal fitting. It runs strong and handles well. I have, of course, run into several issues since its drivable again but it was well worth the wait. here are a few new images.

The car, a year later:
Well some minor tweeks have been done to it to make it more drivable. Since its been out of the shop I upgraded the carburetor and removed the poorly fitted front swaybar. The car has been holding up good short of a starter and alignment problem. I drove the car to hot august nights 2006 with no problems. I am in the process of selling it now. It has been a fun car but its time to get out. Here are some more recent pictures.
