POLK AUDIO INSTALL, PART II!

Ok, so we were all set to FINALLY install some of the additional equipment that the rock stars at Polk Audio put fourth to us to improve our tune situation in the Charger. We had the AMPS and the 12" Sub. all ready to rock and roll... literally. Now I wanted the everything hidden as much as possible so we decided to install one of the amps behind the rear seat but hide it between the seat the jute padding and the back of the rear seat so it would be invisible.

MrAngry's 1968 Dodge Charger Step 1. Pull the rear seat out: I have done this SO MANY times in this car now I can do it in my sleep. Plus it's always a good way to check for loose change (I only made 19 cents this go round). MrAngry's 1968 Dodge Charger

Step 2. Pull out jute padding (sound deading material)

Step 3. Find place to mount AMP: This worked out very well as we were able to mount the amp on the steel cross supports that brace the rear seat section of car.

Step 4. Position and install AMP: We managed to center it between the support braces then run some steel brace fittings to hold everything in place so it is secure. Right now you could flip the car upside down and shake and this thing isn't going anywhere... NICE!

Step 5. Wiring: I effing' hate this part, which is why my buddy Pete from http://www.auto-dynamics.com did it! He spent a lot time wiring the AMP making it nice and neat.

Step 6. Running Wires: Pull off the sill plates and kick panels on both side of the car and run the wires along each side. There is actually foldable metal conduit that runs along the sill plate channel that allows you hide everything - way to go Chrysler!

Step 7. Connect to battery: now, we are running an 80amp fuse that comes through the firewall along the drivers side quarter panel an then tucks every so neatly up onto the radiator support. Pete is master of hiding stuff and this was no exception and if you weren't specifically looking for the fuse you would never find it.

Step 8. OH SH*T!.... now, up until this point everything was moving along at a wonderful pace, until that is we realized the connectors that we needed to wire up the head unit to the AMP were not with us, but in the JVC box back at my house! DAMMIT!!! So, this put the kybosh actually hooking up and calibrating everything.

Step 9. Go eat lunch because I was too stupid to remember all the install parts.... DOH!!

Step 10. To be continued.....

Loved watching you fly in bullrun! I wanted you to win but I guess the Charger was not built with MPG in mind. 5+*s.
