The 911 GT3 Cup (997) was developed based on the current 911 generation, which has been gradually and successfully established in the market since the end of 2004. The development was focused mainly on aerodynamics, as the bow of the car clearly shows. The new bow is used in its basic shape also for the aero kit, which is available as an extra for the current 911 Carrera models.

The new 911 GT3 Cup possesses of a sequential gearbox, allowing to up-shift at full throttle without using the clutch. The gearbox already proved its performance in the 911 GT3 RSR car in international GT series.
