These are my '78 and '82 Fairmonts.
They are both 2-drs.
Here is the '78

I anticipate when my stock-ish 302 is installed, it will be able to drop into the high 12's. I could always hit it with nitrous if some help is necessary.
It is a 2-dr sport coupe, came stock with a 5.0 and C4.

Butt ugly if I must say so myself. But, the 2.3 runs quite well and it is sufficing for daily transportation till the '78 is finished. It gets around 20 mpg putzing around town. Plus, I got it for $120! What a deal.
I am currently building the '78's motor to these specs.
1987 302 block .040 over (non-roller)
Comp cams roller retrofit kit
Comp cams hydraulic roller cam - XE276Rf-HR
Trick Flow valve spring kit
Speed-Pro forged .200 dome pistons
Scat I-beam rods
Stock crank, std/std.
Stock pan.
MSD ignition system
Stock heads, heavily ported.
Edelbrock F-28 dual quad manifold w/2-500 cfm Performer carbs.
Trans is C6 with some goodies like a TCI full manual valvebody and 2800 rpm converter, heavy duty clutchs, etc. It is shifted by a hurst pistol grip quarter stick.
Rear-end is a 8.8 from a Mustang with 2.73 gears and posi. Gears will be swapped soon.
The 1982 will get a motor transplant as well, maybe a 460.
Good Luck - Ford is the path to true horsepower righteousness.
UPDATE (12/18/04): The exhaust has fallen off and un-clogged itself from my '82, giving a welcome increase in top speed to around 75 mph.
I also got my block, KB pistons, and Scat I-beams, and rings from the machine shop. Time to build the motor now that I am off for christmas break.
UPDATE (2/7/05): Heads are finally finished and together. Motor is ready to assemble. I have been busy wrenching on my 1972 Cutlass lately, though. Too much to do!
Got new American Rims: They are very sweet and almost too bling for me.
