In the rear Im running 63" Chevy springs. I got these from the local pull-a-part for about 80 bux. In order to mount these LOONG springs under my 4runah I had to move the front hanger forward 11" this put the axle back in the stock position. Then for the rear I left the rear hanger and built a 9" eye to eye shackle. Then I went and got some ubolts made for the ubolt flip.

Here is the shackle, Its 3/8s stock with a 1.5x2" block inbetween.mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner

As for the shox I built new custom upper and lower mounts. Angling the shocks in like this / \ lets you fit a longer shock in a smaller space. Im currently running a set of Billietien 5100s.
The upper mounts are just bolts welded to a piece of 2x2" stock then cut to fit between the frame rails and welded into place. mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner Sense im a poor Collage student, Instead of buying new longer brake lines I just moved the brake line bracket down lower. I had to slightly bend the hard line but its holding up good.mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner

For rear diff protection I had a buddy of mine how works at a irrigation place get me a 8" pipe cap, which I cut in half and notched then welded her up. mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runnermtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner Overall Im happy with how it turned out, although when I swap my rear axle out Im gonna build a diff cover out of 3/8 plate and shave the bottom of the newer housing.

Well finally got around to getting a new 87 rear end. Heres my shave job.

First off I started with a angle grider with a cut off disk on it to cut out the bottom of the diff, then I got the torch out to do the corners. Once all that was cut off then I cleaned it up with the grinder.
after the whole was cut and cleaned up. Then I cut the first piece of 3/8 plate for the bottom, with the angle grinder. I had to put a slight bend in it to clear the ring gear then I tacked it into place and started the next two pieces. mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner I used the angle grinder to cut and fit all these pieces as well.mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner With all this tacked into place all that was left was the two small triangluar pieces. After I had every thing tacked into place I began to put the final welds down. mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner Before I had tacked every thing inplace I bevealed the edges so I could achive a better penetration. After the final welds were inplace I began smoothing it all out with the angle grinder agian. mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner All in all I prolly gained maybe a inch, but more importantly I got rid of the rock anchor drain plug on the bottom. mtnkid82's 1985 Toyota 4Runner For ring gear protection I will come up with some sort of ALLPRO style protection. When you shave off the drain plug you must use the lower studs to drain the oil now.

Finished the rear axle and got it under my 4runner finally.

for the diff protection I used 3/8 plate. then torched a hole in it for the fill plug.

here is a shot of it installed with every thing back in place.

To make the most of the shaveing I also tilted the pinion up quite a bit so I had to cut the old perches off and reweld new ones on.

Also I had to extened the parking brake arms to clear the springs since they were tilted back as well.

This is the new drain plug, just a bolt that you pull, it is considerbly slower but it works.

also while I was under their I moved the LPSV off the axle and relocated it to the crossmember.
