After driving with the 2.8L for 3 years, I was fed up with its lack of performance, especially low end torque. So I decided to give Nel a heart transplant. Out came the 2.8L and in went a newly-rebuilt 4.0L from a 91 Explorer.
The wiring was quite a challenge!

Wiring's all nice and pretty now.

The 4.0L swap was definitely worth the trouble. Not only was there a huge increase in power and torque, but I also saw a 10-15% increase in my fuel economy.
