Modifications!!

KFX Cold Air Intake

Got a good deal on this so I really couldn't pass it up. Pretty good performance gain I just can't really tell for sure because my transmission just broke too. I ordered a new transmission and am trying to get a clutch at the same time so I won't have to pay double for the labor. We'll see...

Tires-Kumho Ecsta SPT (225/45ZR-17)

Just put these tires on 03/06/2006, Haven't had a chance to really try them out. I have to put the 500 miles on them for "break-in" before the April 9th AUTO-X so after the 9th I'll update this section to let everyone know how the tires hold up. I purchased them from TireRack.com, check out their ratings! I took quick pics in the dark but I'll take better ones later so you can see how they look from the side filling out the wheel well.

Resonator

On 02/22/06 I installed the KFX Resonator (KFXPerformance.com), I still need to lengthen the O2 Wires to see if this will actually get rid of my CEL from installing the headers. Other people have done this and said that it removed theirs but the muffler shops here said that it wouldn't do anything. I'm betting on past experience with this part from the other KIA enthusiasts over the shops. Lets hope KFX wins! Other than that this little resonator did more than I thought it would in toning down the metallic sound, its almost non-existent now. I'm planning on putting in a high-flow cat anyway and this should complete my exhaust for now.

New Front Mask

I ordered this on eBay, it was new and never used and made only for the KIA Spectra 3rd gen. It has a great fit and I think looks pretty good. My front end was getting all chipped up from road bullets and I think that this will really help out a lot. If you look above the driver side headlight you will see "SPECTRA" embossed there. Let me know what you think!!

Trim Accents, DE-ACCENTED!

We got tired of seeing our car from a distance and it not lookin any different than those new Civics with the similar Chrome accents on the hood and trunk. I used automotive masking tape on the trunk instead of removing the assembly, but the hood trim removes very easily by removing about six size 10 Metric bolts. Scroll down to my earlier pics and check out the difference! Let me know what you think...

Tail Lights Smoked

Here are my tail lights after I just finished. I still have to wait a few days before I can use a rubbing compound to really make them look good. Hope you like the pictures!

Here are two pictures at night to show you that the tinting really has no effect on the quality of the lights. Notice how they are the same brightness as the third brake light.

Skunk2 Mega Power Exhaust

jmesutherland's 2005 Kia Spectrajmesutherland's 2005 Kia Spectra
The exhaust is really loud since I have straight 2.25" pipe from the headers all the way out. I will soon be installing a high-flow catalytic converter as without it your car will make a very raspy rattling sound almost no matter what type of exhaust you put on. I'll post videos on my videos link from the first page with before and afters with the catalytic converter so that you will be able to hear what I mean.

Short Throw Shifter

Headers are now on the car (KFXPerformance.com). If you have questions feel free to ask and I'll help you out if you get stuck anywhere. I tried to take as many crucial pictures as I could but I may have left some things out. Check them out they are WAY better than stock. They are in order from beginning to finish.

If you have trouble with bolts you have two options that I find very useful. First, you can use a closed end wrench as leverage... jmesutherland's 2005 Kia Spectra
Second, you can use PB Buster spray. This stuff is a must have in your garage if you work on your cars regularly... jmesutherland's 2005 Kia Spectra

Springs (Eibach Prokit) were so far the best install on the car yet. They have made a dramatic improvement on handling, I can't wait to try them out at a local Auto-X Event. Now I was able to load some pictures of the car with the springs installed.

Here they are!!!

Headlight Conversion, I had the idea a while back but when I saw Matt's spectrarocket I decided to do it. Notice the before, during, and after shots. jmesutherland's 2005 Kia Spectrajmesutherland's 2005 Kia Spectra
