RAD2LTR's 1969 Datsun Roadster
I bought the car in 2001, it was a bit rusty, and the front end had been smashed in. The interior was done as well. I took the car to the local community college, and did the majority of the restoration there. I ran out of time to paint it so I was creative with the primer job.

Skip forward a couple of years, and the car still doesn't have any real paint, however the entire suspension has been revised, full compitition springs, KONI ajustable shocks, poly bushings with a front and rear sway bar. I found a 4.11:1 Limited Slip differential for it as well. The engine is the the true monster of this car. From the factory it was rated at 150 hp, I have made a few improvements to it. I started with a 10 lb flywheel, then added a knife edged crank that is 5 lbs lighter than stock. I sourced the last set of .060 oversized Nissan U20 pistons in Nissans inventory. To that I added a .485 lift 284 intake 294 exhast duration cam to it. The combustion chambers were polished intake ports were matched. The result is an estimated 191 hp and 180 ft lbs torque at the flywheel (I'm not positive but its what Desktop Dyno says.)10.65:1 compression. It also runs on premium pump gas with out pinging.
The seats are out of a 91 Miata with speakers in the headrests allowing for the full stealth stereo install. Safety equipment is a rollbar, and 5 point race harnesses. I have made most of the interior side pannels myself as well.
I have to say the car is really fast. I got scared at 130+ mph and backed off. I have built the car to race, but I havent been able to because I keep having stuff break before I can. It is the most fun car I have ever driven, it gets 33 mpg on the freeway and always starts on the first try everytime.
As for future upgrades, I'd like to install a pair of ultra light race seats to save some weight, an electronic distributor, slotted brake rotors, and a very reworked head. To finish the car off (sometime way down the road) I'd like to paint it in the BRE team markings with the hood being black over a 350Z Silverstone Grey body with the stripes being black on top and a bright silver on the bottom.
I will update the page when I have new pictures (or when I can get them to even show up, or for that matter get the page to show up.)

Will

Paint, paint, we all want to see it painted!!!! i know how you feel, paint doesn't make it go faster or handle better. great job so far. Check out my progress on my 67 1600.
