Since I bought my car in February 2004 it has had three different engines in it. When i got it there was a 302 instead of the original 351C. That 302 needed a lot of work so I decided to just buy a used engine that was in supposedly good shape. The "good" 302 that I bought was in worse shape than the first one, so I took it back to where I bought it. I decided that I would just have the first 302 rebuilt and modified to my liking.
This is the 302 2V that was originally in my car when I bought it. It has since been rebuilt and is much better. It is no longer that ugly light blue color and the engine bay has been cleaned and repainted.
This is the "good" 302 that I purchased. It was the second engine to sit between the fenders of the Mach since I got it.
The rest of these pics are of the new, rebuilt 302. The following is a list of things done to the engine:
-bored 0.020"
-ground crank
-all new bearings
-new pistons
-larger valves (351W)
-new rockers, valve springs, hardware, lifters, and pushrods
-Edelbrock Performer camshaft
-ported exhaust
-double roller timing set
-new oil pump
-rebuilt carb
-new water pump
-Dynomax Blackjack headers
This is one of the exhaust ports after being ported out. It was matched to the headers that I am using as well.
This is one of the heads. They are stock 302 heads with bigger valves from a 351W.
This is it pretty much fully assembled. I am still wanting to change the intake and carb.
This pic shows the headers which are Dynomax Blackjacks. The exhaust ports have been matched to them. They are connected to Dynomax Ultra Flow Welded duals through 2.25" pipe.
Here is the new intake and carb setup which I will be putting on soon. It's a Ford aluminum intake which needs to be cleaned and polished. The carb is a Holley 4160 600cfm 4V with electric choke and vacuum secondaries.
