Most people would be called crazy rebuilding a stock V6 bird... but since you've got great plans for it, I'm glad you're keepin another one alive!

David, you asked about the 3:73 rear in my 87 Corvette. First of all, it dramatically improves the low-end torque. It's an automatic and can burn the tires without even stomping on it. It squeeks when shifting through the gears. Gas mileage is about the same; It does not feel like its gearing down at higway speeds especially in overdrive. Next to the full headers with the cats removed, it's the one biggest improvement you can make. Good luck...."bobcorvette"

What do you mean you wish you could be more helpful? You told me what I needed to know: they must "mill" the clear coat off probably by taking . 010 off. Then they re clear coat them. I was thinking a sandblaster might be able to do it but, they said I'd have to have them remilled or polished for any "shinny" or flat spots. Sounds like this way I can "cut the middle man" and just have a machine shop do it. I know it's commonly done now, Stockton Wheel does it though the mail too. They can even "re-size" your rims, like taking stock steel 15" z28 rims and making them 17". I guess some guys really want that "Stock-Restored look"? Well, thanks man, you've given me another option. Later

I wonder how they redid those rims? We have Local machine shops but, I think I'd have to tell them how it was done or something. As for that price Ooch! I can buy new rims for that, less even. The first I have are Pontiac "Honeycombs" I believe they are only 14". Small I know but, I paid $20 for all four with tires. The second set is factory "Star" mags from a late '80s Z28 Camaro, yes the same ones everyone puts on their S10s. Not very original but, I like the look. So if they told you anything about how they did your rims pass it on to me please, I might be able to find a way to get that price down some. Thanks for the help. Later
