Under the hood

in any '94-96 Roadmaster

you'll find a LT1 5.7 Liter V8.

Photobucket

Factory rated at 260 hp

and 335 ft lbs torque.

The F-Bodys are rated

higher (275/335). Here's why:

There are four basic differences

between the LT1 in the B and F bodys:

1) F-Bodys have cast aluminum heads.

B-Bodys are cast iron.

2) The compression ratio on the

F-Bodys is 10.5:1, and the B-Bodys is 10:1.

3) Camshafts and Programming are different,

as the B-Bodys weigh about

650 pounds more than the F-Bodys.

4) Exhaust systems are different.

The stock F-Body exhaust is less

restrictive than the stock B-Body exhaust.

For lots more current engine pics,

especially modifications,

please see page 9.

I keep my LT1 happy with

Castrol Syntec Oil,

meticulous maintenance,

&  quality parts.

On any given day,

you could eat off of my engine,

it's always really clean.

road_monster's 1994 Buick Roadmaster

What my engine looked like when I bought the car.

This is AFTER I cleaned it up.

road_monster's 1994 Buick Roadmaster

My engine isn't stock anymore.

Stock 48mm TB on the left. 52mm BBK TB on the right.

Look at the built in air foil on the BBK.

The BBK is not only larger, the inlet is smoother.

Why did GM design the stock TB this way?

This is no way to flow air!

Speaking of air flow....

I have a 3.5" F-Body MAF,

with Granatelli Ported

Composite MAF housing.

No screen.

Better air-flow,

and because it's made

of composite material,

there is no heat soak.

The stock B-Body MAF is 3".

road_monster's 1994 Buick Roadmaster

Since were on the topic of air flow...

My Ram Air System is a

huge improvement over

the stock intake system.

  I've made a few

modifications to the RAISS.

The red covers are

made by Outerwears.

These are water repellant pre-filters.

This is the original RAISS setup...

This is before I had the RAISS...

This was my very first mod:

GM LS2 / LS6 Beehive Valve Springs

part #12586484.

road_monster's 1994 Buick Roadmaster

Comp Cams 787 Retainers.

road_monster's 1994 Buick Roadmaster

I wanted to upgrade the valvetrain on my LT1,

and not break the bank.

The Scorpion 1.6 ratio Roller Rockers

are a quality product,

and are made in the USA!

The LS2 / LS6 Beehive Valve Springs

will be a big upgrade from stock,

and will work well with the 1.6 Roller Rockers

and the stock camshaft.

Comp Cams 787 Retainers, Stock Locks,

and Fel Pro Valve Stem Seals

complete the valve train upgrade.

I have Bryan Herter PCM programming

  (pcmsforless.com).

Bryan is one of the best .

Bryan has finely tuned the brain of my Buick,

and in the process created a Road Monster!!!

I've been focusing on the Body,

Interior, and Gran Sport Theme .

The Transmission was rebuilt,

the complete suspension &

brake systems were rebuilt

& upgraded.

With all of that finished,

I can start the really good

performance modifications!!!

No More Mobil 1

I used to use Mobil 1 5W30 Synthetic.

I don't anymore.

road_monster's 1994 Buick Roadmaster

I have since learned about oil,

& found out that German made

Castrol Syntec 0W30

is the best oil for the LT1.

road_monster's 1994 Buick Roadmaster

The "red label" Castrol made in Germany.

Good Stuff.

Thanks Matt for educating me!
