My 2002 Anniversary Edition Firebird - NOT the same as the yellow Collector Edition! This car was built by GMMG for Carl Black Pontiac, to celebrate 35 Years of Firebird production.
Only 20 of these were ever made - this one is Car PR-1, which stands for "Promotional Car #1". This car was the model for the rest of the series, cars 1-19, for a total of 20 Anniversary Firebirds.

These cars were built on the BlackBird Trans Am platform - and included the same potent engine, exhaust, and suspension modifications as the high output BlackBirds. The Anniversary Firebird models have unique hood and fender emblems, and include the same Anniversary crest stitched into the head rests and floor mats.

Here is me and Matt Murphy (owner of GMMG, builder of super Camaros and killer Firebirds!!) at the Forge Muscle Car Show in October 2004 - he was very cool, and personalized my car by signing the engine bay - thanks Matt!! Most of the information on this page comes directly from Matt, so it should be very accurate.

Check out these two cool guys! Me and my friend Willy, who owns a 2001 BlackBird - car #2, with the 435HP Phase 2 conversion. From 2001-2002, GMMG made 50 BlackBirds (and 2 prototypes), 8 special edition Silver Blackbirds for Year One Inc., 6 yellow Collector Edition Blackbirds, and 20 Anniversary Firebirds (including my prototype car). These cars were all built for Carl Black Pontiac, and sold as fully warrantied special order vehicles.
Options for this car include 380HP/400TQ Phase 1 engine package, P275/40ZR17 Goodyear F1 tires on S200 American Racing Wheels, 6 Speed Manual with 3:73 Gears, Chambered Cat-Back Exhaust, Eibach lowering springs, Hurst classic white shift knob, Arctic White paint with Vintage Blue hood stripes. Complete "35 Years Anniversary Firebird" emblem package - hood, fenders, head rests, floor mats, gauge cluster, car cover. GMMG build numbers stamped on engine block and driver's side door frame.

I had this excellent rear deck mat custom made by carmotorsports.com. They had the "35 Years" Anniversary Logo in their data base, and I believe they did the custom floormats for Carl Black, as well. It says "Car #1 of 19", because I didn't have my information straight about my Prototype car being numbered separate from cars 1 to 19. Mine is the only prototype for the series, and the GMMG stamping on the engine block also signifies the "PR1" distinction from the other numbered cars.
I would love to hear from anybody that has one of the other 19 cars like this - or any original BlackBirds out there; and to see some pics of your cars!
Here's a few cool pics, then check out page 2 for more Trans Ams, more stories, and more fun cars!
