VAPOR-LOCK FINALLY CURED! (I hope)
Since acquiring my van two years ago, it has had a nasty vapor-lock problem which has left me stranded numerous times. Swapping a Holley electric pump in place of the stock mechanical pump helped a little but not enough.
Next, I tried adding pipe insulation to the fuel lines and heat shields over the exhaust manifolds. That helped extend the time I had before it would start acting-up, but still didn't get rid of the problem.
I decided to spend a little money on new parts in hopes of curing the problem and may have succeeded!
I replaced the old Edelbrock Performer intake with a new RPM Air-Gap intake, replaced the old Holley 7psi fuel pump with a Mallory 12psi pump, replaced the old Holley pressure regulator with a Mallory return-style unit, replaced the 5/16" fuel line with 3/8", and added a 1/2" return line.
Here is the stock 22 gal. tank with the new fuel fittings:
(the -6AN fuel outlet is below the stock outlet, and the -8AN return fitting is at the upper left corner)

I know the pump shouldn't work being mouted above the fuel inlet, but it does.
I mounted the regulator on this aluminum plate I fabbed-up (not fancy, but it works).

All back together!
The taller intake did require another trans kickdown extension, and I had to add a washer to the linkage tower to keep the rod from flopping around (again, not fancy but it works).

When I can afford it, the dinosaur-style mechanical linkage will be replaced with Lokar cable pieces.
