MKII MR2
In my opinion this generation is the best looking and with the most potential to be the fastest of all the MR2 generations. Unfortunately Toyota discontinued this midship car. The only thing that makes this car stand out from many others is its MR (Mid engine Rear wheel drive) setup.
These are pictures of my 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo. It has been repainted the same stock red color by none other than myself while I was still in my Auto Body program at my Technical School.
The car is as of now basically stock except for an Apex BOV and Alpine MP3 deck. I took it for a run at the 1320 (1/4 mile) at Rock Falls Raceway in Wisconsin and ran a best time of 15.2 sec. et, Seeing that it's basically stock and with a little over 100,000 miles on it, it seems reasonable. Also the turbo may not be operating at full potential and may need replacing seeing that an average lifespan of a turbo is about 100,000 miles.
Got to hand it to Toyota for making such reliable cars. This recent summer I went down to Chicago for HIN. I live in Minnesota and the trip was about 350 miles one way. Another 350 miles were added when we came back and on top of that my friends and I were going over 100 mph (well over 120MPH, shh.. dont tell the doughnut guys) for long periods of time. I came back home and the car drove normally, no mechanical problems at all.
Thanks for dropping by, this is just the beginning. I plan to upgrade this car in the near future and will update whenever I do. Until then, go blow off some exhaust.
