This is my 355 S-10 at the Wabash Valley Dragway in Terre Haute, IN.
I've only got about 3000 bucks in this combo and it smokes most things on the road.

I built it about 7 years ago with a 283.

I got a little hungrier and upgraded to a 355 about three years ago. This thing has the original, bone-stock 7.5" rearend with 3.42 gears. It has dozens of strip passes and who knows how many street races and burnouts on it and has never even hinted at breaking. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I think people are being a little over-reactive when they talk about the fragile nature of these stock differentials. The 355 has Vortec heads, an Edelbrock Air-Gap intake, a Comp cam, and a 600 edelbrock Performer carb. This combo has run 8.79 in the eighth mile at 79 MPH.
E-mail me if you need any help with a swap.
