This is my '65 Rambler wagon. I bought it when I was 13 in 1991 for $650. It had 64,000 miles on it then and now about 93,000. It was pretty much flawless when I got it but I had to let it sit outside for a few years. The top picture is fairly recent but pretty misleading. While the car looked okay from about twenty feet, when you get closer you can see a little rust coming in behind the trim. It is now garaged and will be forever more. I am currently doing as close to a frame off restoration as can be done to a unibody car. It was going pretty slow because I am a broke sumbitch and my wife and I recently had a baby.
I was going to attempt a TH350/SBC swap with it but I decided to just rebuild the stock engine and transmission. It was too big of an undertaking to swap a different combo with the factory Rambler suspension and torque tube, etc. The 232 ci inline six engine was running fine but the transmission (Borg-Warner T35) was starting to slip badly. I was just going to try and clean up the outside of the engine and paint it but in the end I figured it only made sense to give it a rebuild too while it was out. It ended up needing to go .040 over in the bores and .010 under on the rods and mains. I also had the exhaust valve seats hardened so I never have to buy lead substitute again.

You can see my killer 355 S-10 trying to nose into this shot. Feeling a little neglected.
