I got this at an impound car auction for 100 bucks. I hadnt even heard of a chevette until i found it. I was just looking for a piece of shit, the only requirments were that it ran, it was stick, and was ugly. It was love at first sight.

Front
spray paint is really cheap, so i ended up using a bunch of different colors.

Side
Best part of the car, the sweet chalkboard doors.

Inside
Its all in pretty good condition, and you have to admit the interior is sweet as hell, but it smells like dirty old man, the radio doesnt work, and its only a 4-speed.

I began to gut my car this weekend. I figure if im gonna put any money into it, im going to start with the overall appearance. Im sick of looking at pictures of all these beater cars with sweet systems, cool floor pedals and wheel covers, but they still look like shit inside and out So im off on my mission to re-carpet my car, and cover my seats. once thats done, i can do all the fun stuff. Anyhow, here are some pics of what my vette looks like without its discusting carpet and front seats.

And heres after i took all the padding and everything out, cleaned up, and put the seats back in.

and thanks to "sickchick" i ordered custom carpet for my vette, (black) so im gonna drop that in when i get it in the next couple ofweeks. Only 99 dollars + shipping, at www.1aauto.com

You would have to ask that now. I'm off work for the week, which means my friend that is really into Chevettes is gone. Ran off to some southern state for a family thing. I know for sure he would know. I know that there is a place that advertises in car magazines they say they can get or make a carpet for any car. The '78 Malibu I bought sat for two years in a field with no windows in it, they charged me like $120 with shipping for a new carpet. My friend has a "rust-free" Chevette he is selling for $500 with the small parts it needs, but, he'll ask around a $1000 if we change the door handles, fix the paint on the bumpers, and find matching stock wheels. Other then those few pieces it's perfect Cali car. O'well I'll ask him when I see him. Later

Well, I know I've owned my share of cars like this. I think it's great you decided to do a "Fun" paint job, too many try (like I did once) to do a pro-looking spray can paint job, looked good for a week or so. Four speeds can be fun. Have fun with it, if the $450 is what you paid when why worry about it being a "Showcar" ? I would definitely do something about the "Old Man Smell" do you have a place that does car interiors near you? Or a detail shop might even have this stuff, it's called "SD20." I work for a seat maker, you know for new cars. We use SD20 to clean off grease, marker, and general dirt before we ship them. Works great! I've used it on spilled pop, milk, and coffee on carpet and my clothe seats. And I do believe the smells go with the stains.

I plan on painting him gold again but a nicer less brown gold. I was almost thinking of doing a Baldwin paint job on him with the other color being black but, I don't know about that yet. :)
