Welcome to Chan's SQ 5 homepage.

Hello, my name is Chan. I have recently upgraded my sound system. I would like to share my experience of installing a SQ system in a MX5 NA.

This is my SQ 5.
ahchan's 1989 Mazda Miata

The Objectives Of The Projects

The subjective of the sound system is to provide the best sound quality without spending too much money. I have applied KISS or Keep It Simple Stupid in the design. Basically, I am using as least equipments as possible to cover full range music. Minimising the complexity of the system made the installation and the budget more manageable as well as not adding too much weight to my handling ride. Anyway, this 2.1 setup consists of:

1. A Clarion DRX9575 CD Player (Old Skool)
2. A set of Boston Accoustic Pro 6.5 speakers
3. A Image Dynamic IDQ D2V2 subwoofer
4. A Phoenix Gold X100.4 four channels amp.

In addition, the kart performs really well in corners. The suspension works was the first thing I looked at. So far I have upgraded the shocks, springs and sway bars. I am waiting for a cheap and good roll bar for further safety and cornering enhancements. On the other hand, I am only planning to do minimum amount of power mod as of lack of budget :( :( :(. I will consider a 6psi turbo setup when I have spare 2 grands.

Summary of the SQ system:

The Deck
The Amp
Front Stage
The Subwoofer
The SQ Result

Summary Of The Mods:

The Suspension Mod
The Power Mod
The The Add On Accessories And Cosmetic Fixes

Nice ride, especially the ICE install. Did you notice an increase in window speed (slow windows are a classic miata problem) after replacing the cables?
