My new sub-zero ELV151 Encolsure will be here on wed.4-13-05 which i am told will almost dubble my out put and clarity from this sealed box. i cant wait, i can already set car alarms off accross 3 lanes and into a parking lot at lights, and i have knocked a few pictures off the wall at my friends houses (one 5 foot framed with glass- boy was that hard to clean up)85civ15s's 2005 Honda Civic

some quick pics of my 15 in my new subzero vented box, it is the biggest box i could fit in there (i had to remove my carpet, cardboard piece, spare tire basically everything in the trunk. i then put the box in side ways, it was too tall to go in rightside up and fliped it upright in the spare tire drop zone, lifted and rotated. I had to hold it up while my friends put the tire, cardboard and carpet back in under it. finally i wedged it under the trunk tensioner that i bent out of the way. if this box was 1/4" taller there is no way it would fit in this car!). I will take some pics at the car show/audio comp. on the 27th. also, I will have my JL 500/1 amp powering it and have the sub firing into the trunk. 85civ15s's 2005 Honda Civichaha i actually got a higher SPL when the sub fires into the trunk!

It started with the audiobahn amp. which i completly destroyed by running it at 2ohms. Then the MTX6001 which i sold to my sister and is now powering a pioneer 12" flat truck sub in a '98 toyota tacoma 4x4. Now i have a JL 500/1. This is by far the best amp. i have delt with. the sound quality and output are phenomenal. It has tons of adjustability and blows away all of the systems i have set up.

I have gone through many subs. first, a sony 12" in a bandpass box (blew up). second, a JL 12W3V1D2 (12" for you non JL guys) in the same bandpass box (one of the voice coil leads that connects the voice coil itself to the frame where you connect the speaker wire broke), third, got tired of seeing 12"s so i bought a JL 15W3V1D4 (15") that i recently blew up after a few weeks with the 500/1 (V1s had a 400 watt RMS). Now i have a 15W3V2D4 (15") that i am still breaking in.

Hey, can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to give me all that info. WIsh you actually lived in IL so I could really pick your brain. I'll check out the 240 soon and let you know what i think. I've had 2 systems before. First one was 2 x 12" Alpine Type -S Subs in a sealed box powered by a Sony amp putting out 380 Watts by 1. It hit at 131DB in a show. Then I switched to a single Kicker Solo Baric L5 powered by a 1200x1 amp. I hit 139DB with that set-up, but then I sold my system and car (2002 Mustang) for the Civic to save on gas. I thought I would not piss the subs at all, but now I'm craving it. I think I will take your suggestion of the SLASH 500/1 powering 2 x 10W3v3's. Probably will cost me more like 1500 since I don't know anyone, but for pure SQ, you simply can't beat JL. Thanks again for dropping me a note.
