INTRODUCTION...

sweet_85_SE's 1984 Pontiac Trans Am

Update: 3/2/06 - I added some pictures of the new 4th gen console and 1985-1992 Firebird radio pod on page 6.

Update: 2/7/06 - I added a couple pages and updated the engine page, let me know what you think!!

UPDATE WORTHY OF BEING ON PAGE ONE!!!!!!
After having pretty dismal results from my dyno runs last March (190 RWHP) I got a chance to dyno it again today (1/4/06)! I've installed a new distributor (my old one was JUNK), installed a 255 lph Walbro in-tank fuel pump, and installed an Accel 300+ Digital Ignition system. Today I put down 295 RWHP and 310 RWTQ!!!! That's with a Holley base map right out of the box, no added tuning, and 87 octane pump gas. So this summer I should be able to fine tune the fuel and spark to hit or maybe even break the 300 HP mark!!!! Check out my dyno graph!

This page is devoted to my 1984 Pontiac Trans Am project car. The car is a constant work in progress with the latest addition being a Holley Stealth Ram EFI setup controlled by a Holley Commander 950 ECU. I will be adding more to this page as mods occur and as time allows...

Please check out page 7 for the latest updates, including my mockup of one paint scheme that I have been thinking about!

Also please check out my other cardomain page showcasing the 1985 Pontiac Firebird S/E which I have now sold! Click here to see the '85

Here are some pictures of my car just after sunrise on top of Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island in Maine on the 29th of October '04

I've done quite a bit to this car since I got it. It started it's life with these options (to name the major ones):

305 HO computer controlled carbeurated V-8
5 speed manual transmission
power windows
A/C
4 wheel disc brakes
3.73 non-posi rear end
cloth interior and deluxe stereo

Basically all of that has been modified or changed completely at this point. The following pages will show you a bit of what this car was and what it has evolved into. It is far from finished, but it certainly has come a long way!
Just to whet your appetite, here are a few things it has now:

355 multi port fuel injected V-8
6-speed manual transmission
3.27 geared posi rear end (going in summer of '05)
upgraded rear disc brakes and completely redone front suspension and brakes
line lock
...and the list goes on ;-)

Hello. In my opinion, you should keep T/A in black and gold colour, I think that is the best colour for '82-'85 trans-ams. Looking really good, congratulations.

Your T/A is 3rd gen perfection Excellent mods! I agree with your decsion to forgo the t-tops. the aftermarkets have more drawbacks then the original. i have 3 T/as with them. i love that my 84 Firebird does not. your building the car to atleast see 300hp+. The t-tops would just flex and leak.
