Additional Escape Hybrid information...

The Ford Escape Hybrid won "Truck of the Year" honours for 2005. This advertisement appeared in Vancouver newspaper's in mid-January 2005 to highlight the award.

Our 60GB iPod uses a DLO TransPod FM unit for playback of songs and audiobooks through the factory stereo. The DLO unit plugs into the DC Power outlet on the dash and cradles the iPod at a convenient location clear of the other dash-mounted controls and recharges the iPod while also allowing you to select any FM frequency to broadcast to your radio (with digital display).
Note: photo is not from my Escape (which does not have the Navigation/Display system pictured); it was this photo from another Hybrid owner at www.escape-central.com which convinced me to purchase the same unit for my vehicle.
Long-term goal is to install the necessary component to allow direct-connection of the iPod to the in-dash stereo via the rear connections on the head unit. The DLO cradle will still be useful however, as it holds/powers the unit and does have an AUX output on the side (which disables the FM transmitter when used).

The "Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association" used a picture of our Escape Hybrid in its 2007 Calendar, giving us the month of August.
