I knew what I wanted in my jeep, as I have been a jeep guy since I was a little kid. I wanted to base it on the '42 Willys MB/Ford GPW. These vehicles are the epitome of utilitarian and have a very strong influence on me as a jeep owner. Many people don't like the YJ, but I do believe it is capable of a lot more than people see. My goal is to get as close to a military MB as possible with my YJ. The following will be a timeline on my progress. I hope you enjoy it -

I started with a bare-bones (but very well-maintained) 1995 Wrangler.

In the Beginning - Fallen_Shadow's 1995 Jeep YJ

It came with 30" Toyo's and nice aluminum wheels. I soon purchased a set of 31" Goodyear MTR's, an ARB snorkel, and Bushwacker flares. The undercarriage was flawless; not a spot of rust to be found. This assured me the best when it came time to swap out the suspension.

I decided on a 4" Hell Creek kit, with 1.5" shackles. I installed the kit in the parking lot of my college with a couple wrenches and jacks...

After an hour and a half, the rear-end was complete.

The next day, I finished the front.

I sold my tires/wheels and purchased a set of 35x12.5x15 Pro Comp Mud Terrains and had them mounted on some black 15x8 Cragar wheels.

Of course, I mounted them anxiously -

The paint was in pristine condition, and i thought about leaving it white for a while..

But then I had an idea -

I sanded everything down, masked everything off, and gave it a good couple coats of olive drab.
