LOWER REAR GFX SPOILER:
****************************************
Now to explain the lower spoiler... Yes, it is an upside down spoiler. So now some of you think I'm on crack, but I had to do something to jazz things up. Again, since there was nothing aftermarket I liked, I had gone basically stock. Sure the Camaro side gfx added a subtle difference. I was sure only F-body people would notice.
So I had an idea. I went back to the yard where my 84 GFX came from. I robbed a spoiler to do a test fit. The junkyard guys all went out to see what I had planned. I took the spoiler and flipped it upside down under the rear gfx. They liked it a lot. It actually looked just right, added the flare I wanted, and gave the old effects a more modern look. So I bought it and went to work.
Here is the Lower rear spoiler as it was striped down and the seams were filled.

Here it is again with the seams filled and in primer freshly sanded & being prepped for paint.

INSTALLATION OF REAR LOWER SPOILER
****************************************
In the rear the installation was a bit of a challenge. Since I have the 84 style ground effects ... I have the bumper cover and the gfx coming together under the car in a tight fit! I had to undo the push pins across the underside of the rear bumper cover & gfx. Once this was free, I had access to the space b/w the gfx and bumper cover. This is where the studs of the spoiler would be coming through and mounting!
For those with 85-92 rear bumper covers...You have an easy time, since your bumper and gfx are a solid unit!
Once I had freed everything up, I had to drill 2 holes for the outer most studs on the spoiler. I attached the studs to the urethane gfx with some large washers. Large washers are used to reduce strain caused by the smaller bolts, by enlarging the mounting surface and dispersing the weight of the spoiler. This was especially important because...The gfx were not deep enough under the car to provide a mounting area for the Forward most studs. I instead used some steel straps attached to the stud. The strap came up and mounted to the body on an existing bolt, thus holding up the leading edge. I then reattached the pushpins to the cars body!
Here is the lower spoiler mounted on the rear bumper before it was all reinstalled as a unit.

Here it is on the car!

Pics with old exhaust tips, but good shot of the spoiler...

The rear spoiler not only added the modern look I desired,
but it again visually lowered the lines of the car.
