PAINT: JAM TOUCH UP

Due to the tight time constraints when the car was originally repainted back in 2002, there were a few areas that got left for later... Like the Jams.

Front Door Jams

Finally tackling the door jams after all this time! They had originally had a touch of primer get blown in while the car was being repainted in 2002.
Here you can really see how dinjy they were. Definately not good for a show car! They really looked bad compared to the fresh black paint of the engine bay!

HEre you can see the extent of the tape p so as not to get any overspray on the freah black!
Now some of the tape is off...

In order to get a clean paint line, we removed the weather strip. It's got a pinch grip that was easy enough to take of and put back on again later w/o any damage to the piece.
Starting on the Passenger side and going around...
Across the back above the tail lights...
Here is a close up of that bad rust spot in the rear...
Now we started sanding the area for paint... getting rid of the residual glue and any rusty spots... here is the very same pic, just cleaned up... still has to be sanded!
here you can see all the goo we had to remove...
You can see how these areas either have overspray, or the old red paint has just worn off with age...

Finally gettting the paper on...
Now on with the red single stage!
All done and that paper off...MUCH BETTER!!!

Now getting it papered up! We are only doing the red this go around...
Now you can really see how much paper we used. Wheel, tire, and everything.
