Red Base Coat
****************************************
On to the painting.....
First John would lay down the red base coat...
Back in the booth all prepped and ready to go....

Let the painting begin.

It was so wild to watch the process.
Getting to help out really gave me a sense of the effort that goes into a good paint job!

Finally a red car....

Black Base Coat
****************************************
With the body in red base coat, John now had to get the car ready for its second color...black. He left it in red base coat and let the coat flash. Then we decided how high the black would come up on the bottom of the body. He taped the line for the black, then papered the body to avoid any over spray of the black base coat onto the red body.
Here it is taped and ready.

Sprayed

Clear coat
****************************************
Once the black had flashed...

The car was then ready for the clear coat. John removed the tape that was placed for the black base coat. Both colors would be sprayed with the clear at the same time. This would keep you from having as much of a transition in the paint.
Now its ready for the clear coat....

All painted.
Looks like a totally different creature, Eh?
